Baby Changing Table – Choosing the Right One

Changing tables for babies provide parents with a safe, clean place to change the baby’s diapers any time. Every nursery should have a baby changing table, and with the many options available, it’s easy to find one that will fit the décor of any nursery.

Different Style Options in Changing Tables for Babies

Some features are strictly a matter of preference, such as whether you like doors on the front of the changing table. This looks nice, but some busy parents find that when they’re in the middle of changing a diaper, they don’t want to be bothered.

What about materials? If you have a crib, you can probably find a baby changing table made from the same material, whether it’s cherry wood, maple, white painted or any other finish. Many crib manufacturers also make changing tables for babies and baby dressers that coordinate to outfit the whole nursery.

Baby Changing Table Safety Features

Certain features are a must in your baby changing table:

  • Sturdy construction with solid legs and no wobble. Look for heavy weight, a broad base and solid joints
  • Guardrails all the way around all four sides, the higher the better
  • A safety strap to put around baby’s waist in case – babies can fall, even with a guardrail around the table
  • Plenty of storage – look for deep shelves where you can stow diapers, baby wipes and other essentials and reach them easily.
